KaprekarApp

A MerWare project — an exploration focused on Kaprekar's Constant.

← Back to Portfolio

Overview

KaprekarApp puts Kaprekar’s algorithm at your fingertips with a cross‑platform experience for Windows and Android — available free on Google Play Store and the Microsoft Store.
Built with Microsoft’s .NET and MAUI frameworks, it delivers seamless performance across mobile and desktop.
For all my nerds out there, the app uses a unique “Wow! Signal” epoch‑based versioning system — a playful nod to extraterrestrial time (ET).
For any digit-heads who low key want to get hardcore down in the weeds, you can step through the algorithm in debug with your favorite IDE; the algorithm code foundation is published as open source here: https://github.com/PapaMarc/kaprekar.
And to top it off and knock it out-the-box, it features a debut background rap track celebrating the algorithm and Kaprekar’s biography.

Privacy Policy: KaprekarApp by MerWare does not collect, store, or share any personal data, usage data, or analytics. No telemetry or tracking is performed; the app runs entirely locally on your device. No information is transmitted to MerWare or third parties. For questions, contact support((at))merware((dot))com.
Security Commitment: While the Windows Store centric install/update warns "This app can: Uses all system resources" this is a permissions artifact required by the MAUI framework's WinStore packaging which, like KaprekarApp, is in its early stages of maturity. MerWare is committed to ensuring the app operates at the lowest privilege level allowed by the framework, for any given platform. Future updates will adjust permissions as the MAUI framework evolves to minimize exposure.
Transparency: Users can be assured that no hidden data collection, profiling, or third-party sharing occurs. The app is designed for educational and entertainment purposes only, with privacy and security as core principles.

Hard Out Here for a Constant

Hook (8 bars, chantable)

It’s hard out here for a number, grindin’ digits in the street,
Flip the max, subtract the min, till the constant’s what you meet.
Six-one-seven-four, yeah, the code don’t bend or break,
Kaprekar carved the hustle, every loop gon’ seal your fate.
It’s hard out here for a number, gotta ride that algorithm,
Stack ‘em high, stack ‘em low, subtraction’s the rhythm.
Six-one-seven-four, the pimp of the math game,
Kaprekar’s name eternal, every digit knows the same.

Verse 1 (16 bars, storytelling)

Born in Dahanu, nineteen‑oh‑five,
No postgrad crown, but the math stayed alive.
Wrangler prize earned, sharp mind on display,
From Devlali chalkboards to the world stage today.
Magic squares, harshad joy, numbers singin’ loud,
Self numbers stand alone, but they still make him proud.
They said his math was small, but the grind was deep,
Gardner spread the word, now the constant don’t sleep.
Four digits in the set, not all the same,
Line ‘em up, flip the script, subtraction’s the game.
4321 minus 1234,
Run the loop, keep hustlin’, till you hit that core.
8352, then 6174,
Every hustler on the block know you can’t ignore.
Seven steps max, convergence tight,
Kaprekar’s algorithm — constant in the fight.

Bridge (8 bars, layered puns)

Multiples of nine, divine design,
Digits align like hustlers on the line.
Self numbers stand alone, no parent to claim,
But 6174 forever holds the name.
Harshad joy, harsh hustle too,
Every sum of digits givin’ joy to the crew.
From Bombay sun to the math elite,
Kaprekar’s grind put the rhythm on repeat.

Verse 2 (12 bars, punchy close)

They laughed at first, said his math was small,
But the hustle hit global, Gardner made the call.
From India’s chalkboards to American page,
Kaprekar’s constant lit the world stage.
Now every kid with a pad and pen,
Can flip them digits, reach the same end.
Six-one-seven-four, the pimp of the set,
Numbers bow down, respect the bet.
Dirty South beat, math grind in the flow,
Kaprekar’s name eternal, let the algorithm show.
It’s hard out here, but the constant gon’ stay,
Six-one-seven-four, hustlin’ every day.

Hook / Outro (repeat, crowd chant)

It’s hard out here for a number, grindin’ digits in the street,
Flip the max, subtract the min, till the constant’s what you meet.
Six-one-seven-four, yeah, the code don’t bend or break,
Kaprekar carved the hustle, every loop gon’ seal your fate.
